Wind Turbine TechnicianThis position is responsible for daily operations and maintenance of wind turbines. This will require an extensive amount of travel throughout the US. This person must have a safety first attitude with an understanding of doing the job right the first time.Responsibilities:Promote and comply with all Company and safety policies and proceduresWorking in and around wind turbinesClimb multiple wind towers on a daily basisAbility to professionally interact with customers and coworkers on a daily basisDemonstrate safety as a top priorityInstall, inspect, maintain, operate and repair wind turbinesDiagnose and fix any problem that could cause the turbine to be shut down unexpectedly or fail to operate properlyClimb towers to inspect, troubleshoot, or repair turbine equipmentPerform routine maintenance on wind turbinesTest electrical components and systems, as well as mechanical and hydraulic systemsTroubleshoot mechanical, hydraulic, or electrical malfunctionsService underground transmission systems, wind field substations, or fiber optic sensing and control systemsReplace worn or malfunctioning componentsOthers duties as assignedQualifications:Education and Work Experience Requirements:High school diploma or equivalentMust possess an active Transportation Worker Identification Card (TWIC) or have the ability to obtain a TWIC CardTechnical 2 or 4-year degree or certificate wind energy or related preferredMinimum two (2) years' experience working in and around wind turbine, specifically for troubleshooting and preventative maintenance, or one (1) years experience and degree or certificateAbility to demonstrate basic industrial safety practices / protocols including LOTOExperience using basic power and hydraulic toolsValid Driver's License (CDL Preferred)Strong attention to detail and ability to follow directions with precise executionBasic computer operation skills and familiarity with Internet-based program navigationAbility to read, interpret and understand basic drawings and schematicsKnowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required:Ability to climb stairs and ladders up to 125 meters in heightAble to work in demanding physical and inclement weather conditionsAble to maintain certifications required to perform the work, including but not limited to: First Aid / CPR, Tower Climb and Rescue, LOTO, Arc Flash, etc.Comfort working remotely in a turbine as part of a team with limited supervisory interactionTake reasonable care of your own and others' health and safety and of those who may be affected by the day-to-day delivery of this role by taking personal responsibility for working toward Wanzek's Zero Injury principlesRead, analyze and interpret technical procedures, reports, business correspondence and procedure manualsEffectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers and the general publicAdd, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure using whole numbers, common fractions and decimalsCommon sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral or diagram formAbility to use hydraulic tension and torque toolingKnowledge of entering and exiting the rotor.
