Wind Turbine Generator Engineer – Apex Systems
This contractor will review wind turbine designs and assist in streamlining supply chain processes. This is a 12‑month contract with potential to extend or convert to full‑time.
Location
Primarily remote with up to 25% travel.
Responsibilities
- Apply standard processes/procedures to achieve objectives and goals.
- Apply sound engineering principles to a broad variety of assignments.
- Travel to wind sites as often as 5–10 days per month.
- Respond as needed during off‑hours as the power generation business operates “around the clock.”
- Drive‑train, yaw, pitch, hydraulic, and bolted‑joint system mechanical activities.
- Perform root‑cause analysis for systemic, emerging wind turbine issues and catastrophic events.
- Develop and deploy RCA countermeasures, reliability improvement countermeasures, and cost‑effective solutions.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering.
- 3–5+ years of relevant engineering work (design, project, test, etc.).
- Demonstrated history of professional work.
- Travel to wind sites as often as 5–10 days per month.
- Physically capable of climbing a wind turbine and executing field work.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with gear, bearing, bolted‑joint design, application and/or maintenance.
- Master of Science in Mechanical Engineering.
- Licensed Professional Engineer.
- Experience with Maximo or a similar enterprise asset management system.
- Six Sigma certification.
