Wholesale Program Underwriter

Join a growing and dynamic wholesaler. Review applications for insurance coverage, (APD/MTC) reports from loss control consultants, and other information to decide if an application meets the program(s) requirements. Assess a risk's experience against the relevant class of business. Analyze loss potential due to catastrophe, severity, and/or frequency. Rate policies or verify previously rated policies for correct ratings. Use knowledge of automated systems to generate information for new or renewal policies. Prepare quotes for agents and respond to inquiries from agents, policyholders, or prospects. Help agents with comments or questions about applications and their chances of acceptance by the company. Examine requests for cancellation, endorsements, etc. Review policies for renewal consideration. Request any additional documentation necessary for processing an application, endorsement, or cancellation. Conduct marketing visits to agents.

Requirements:

You must hold a New Jersey Producer’s License. You need 10+ years of E&S brokerage experience. Prior exposure to insurance underwriting activities is essential. Good oral and written communication skills are required. You should possess strong analytical skills and attention to detail. Demonstrated negotiation skills are necessary. Technical knowledge of insurance coverage forms and their relevance to exposure is important. Familiarity with departmental regulations and policies is needed. Ability to work independently and complete assignments within the given parameters, prescribed routines, and standard accepted underwriting practices is essential. You should have strong interpersonal skills while collaborating with staff and company underwriters. Experience in standard underwriting practices and procedures is valuable. Associated classes or courses and/or industry license or designation are encouraged.
