Welding Engineer InternWe are excited to offer an exceptional opportunity for a Welding Engineering Intern to join our innovative team, where you will play a vital role in supporting welding engineering projects and enhancing operational efficiencies. As an intern, you will assist the Welding Engineering Team with a range of responsibilities, including learning and executing basic shop floor and contract welding duties, leading 5S and process improvement initiatives, and aiding in welding procedure development. You will also conduct system audits, apply your knowledge to support troubleshooting and operations, and contribute to documentation and analysis of welding metrics.
This internship provides a valuable opportunity to gain hands-on experience in a collaborative environment while making meaningful contributions to our welding processes.Location: On-site in Mount Vernon, INYour Day to Day as a Welding Engineer Intern:Learn and carry out basic functions of shop floor and contract welding engineering dutiesLead 5S/process improvement projects relating to specific shop operation jobsAssist with performance of welding procedure development and interpretationsPerform welding operation and system auditsApply knowledge of welding processes to support shop floor operations and troubleshooting of welding equipment and operationsDocumentation and support of operational improvements such as the following:Creation of job specific aids, weld instructions, or checklistsCarry out operational efficiency projects (Individual & Team Based (Multi-discipline)Support data collection and analysis for weld metricsEnsure welding processes meet customer specificationsEnsure welding operations meet customer specifications and good work practicesRequired Qualifications:Must be enrolled full time in a Welding Engineering programMust have enough credits to be at least at sophomore statusPrior internship experience is preferred but not requiredExperience or knowledge with basic arc welding processes such as GTAW, SMAW, SAW, and GMAW weldingRobotics/Automated process knowledge is preferred but not requiredProficient in fundamental computer skills (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.)Strong technical problem-solving abilities and interpersonal skillsExcellent technical writing and verbal communication skillsMust be a U.S. citizenPreferred Qualifications:ABET accreditation is preferredPrior internships and/or experience in a heavy manufacturing environment is preferredRobotics/Automated process knowledge is preferredWhat We Offer:A competitively paid internship experienceA housing stipend for interns whose home of record is more than 50 miles from Mt.
