Welding EngineerWe are seeking a Welding Engineer to support the design, implementation, validation, and optimization of welding processes and automated welding systems. This role combines welding engineering expertise with automation support to ensure equipment, processes, and finished products meet quality, safety, and customer requirements.The ideal candidate will have strong knowledge of welding codes, welding process development, fixture design, weld inspection methods, and manufacturing operations.Travel Requirement: Up to 40% travel, including periodic 2–3 day trips to Michigan and Colorado Springs.Key ResponsibilitiesWelding Process Development & SupportDesign and assist in the development of welding fixtures and tooling.Establish, document, and optimize welding process parameters for production equipment.Support weld fixture validation and finished-part gauge verification activities.Develop and implement process controls for automated welding systems.Ensure welding operations comply with applicable industry standards and customer specifications.Automation & Equipment IntegrationDesign, implement, and document control systems for automated manufacturing equipment.Support electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic system design activities.Program and configure machine peripherals and PLC-controlled systems.Coordinate machine debugging, startup, validation, and commissioning activities with build and electrical teams.Ensure equipment is designed and programmed in accordance with customer requirements and company engineering standards.Quality & ComplianceReview and interpret engineering drawings, specifications, schematics, and technical documentation.Support weld quality initiatives through inspection, validation, and process improvement activities.Collaborate with cross-functional teams to resolve welding and manufacturing issues.Ensure compliance with applicable welding codes, standards, and inspection requirements.Required QualificationsTechnical RequirementsAbility to read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, specifications, schematics, and diagrams.Strong knowledge of welding codes and standards, including:AWS D1.1AWS D1.2AWS D1.3AWS D1.6AWS B2.1ASME Section IXHands-on experience with welding processes:FCAW (Flux-Cored Arc Welding)GMAW (Gas Metal Arc Welding / MIG)GTAW (Gas Tungsten Arc Welding / TIG)Working knowledge of Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) methods:UT (Ultrasonic Testing)RT (Radiographic Testing)MT (Magnetic Particle Testing)PT (Liquid Penetrant Testing)VT (Visual Testing)Familiarity with weld inspection standards and practices, including ASNT TC-1A.Preferred QualificationsISO 9001 Lead Auditor certification.Experience within industrial manufacturing and metal fabrication environments.Experience conducting on-site supplier, process, or quality audits.Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma methodologies.Exposure to welding automation and automated manufacturing systems.Education & ExperienceBachelor's Degree in Welding Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related engineering discipline;ORSix (6) or more years of related experience in welding engineering, welding automation, or advanced manufacturing environments.Why Join?Long-term, stable contract opportunity with potential for direct hire.Flexible work schedule.Competitive hourly compensation.Benefits, PTO, and paid holiday options available.Opportunity to work on advanced manufacturing and automation projects in a collaborative engineering environment.HRU is an EOE (Equal Opportunity Employer)
