Job OverviewPerforms welds using arc and T.I.G. welding processes.ResponsibilitiesEssential Job Duties:Works from blueprints, sketches, and/or verbal instructions.Assembles and welds iron, steel, aluminum, stainless steel and other alloys.Performs welds using arc and T.I.G. welding processes; uses oxygen/acetylene torch and cutting/notching equipment such as bank saw, ironworker, shear and reciprocating saw to cut and fit assemblies.Determines fabrication, repair, or modification requirements and methods to be followed, lying out and planning assigned work.Constructs stand and jigs for weldments.Troubleshoots and adjusts welding/burning equipment.Assembles and connects welding apparatus including tanks, regulators, hoses, torches and tips, cables, with feeders and electrode holders.Performs other work of related skills.May be asked to assist with or complete work in other craft areas.All other duties as assigned.Job RequirementsMandatory:High school graduate or GED equivalent.Must be certified in accordance with AWS specifications and Stennis Space Center standards or must pass performance test to determine if can be certified by SSC standards.Must be a U.S. Citizen in order to obtain required NASA badge.Must be able to provide a certified Birth Certificate (with state seal), Passport, or INS Citizenship documents on date of hire (candidate will be sent home if this paperwork is not provided upon arrival on date of hire).Must have the ability to communicate the English language, both verbally and written, in an effective manner.Must have, and maintain, a valid driver's license.Good organizational and planning skills.Preferred:Good Communication skills.Ability to pay close attention to detail.Ability to take direction.Ability to work with computers.Ability to work independently but follow specific detailed instructions.Ability to interface with various levels of personnel in a multi-cultural, team-oriented environment.Physical Requirements:Lift minimum of 30-pound load up from the ground frequently.Walk six hours per day.Bend and stoop six hours per day.Work overhead with minimum 20-pound load.Push and pull frequently throughout the day.Walk up/down the stairs frequently.Stand seven hours per day.Climb ladders and scaffolding.Wear PPE gear for six hours continuously (steel toe shoes, safety glasses, hard hat, gloves).Tolerate extreme cold/heat for three hours continuously.DisclosuresChugach Government Solutions is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
