Welder Position at Old Dominion Brush CompanyOld Dominion Brush Company (ODB) is accepting applications to fill the position of Welder in the department of Welding and Fabrication in Richmond, Virginia.The Welder, under moderate to minimal supervision (depending upon experience), lays out, fits and welds fabricated steel frames and/or metal parts on production floor using welding equipment. Measures and marks locations for metal components on assembly table following blueprints. Verifies position of metal components in assembly using straight edge, combination square and rule.The ODB (Old Dominion Brush) Company has been manufacturing municipal products since 1910.

Operates overhead crane/hoist.Responsible for movement of material or product and proper storage.Must be physically able to wear required appropriate personal protective equipment including welding helmet, gloves, protective apron and/or leather attire, hearing protection, safety glasses, steel toe shoes and fresh air/forced air respirator as required.Performs MIG welding and some TIG welding.Reliable and punctual attendance.All other duties as assigned.Knowledge, Skills and Abilities (KSA's):Experience in MIG welding with some TIG weldingAbility to read and understand EnglishCapable of performing standard measurements.

Ability to read a tape measure in American measurements; ability to use other measuring devices and understand fractions, decimals, and dimensionsAbility to read drawings and blueprintsAbility to adhere to company safety expectations and wear required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)Ability to multitask in fast-paced environmentAbility to work alone and as part of a teamGood math skillsMechanical aptitude and demonstrates initiative; willingness to be flexible and learn and work in all welding areasUnderstand basic procedure of voltage and amp settings for given requirementsEducation and Experience:High school diploma or GED certificate preferred. Equivalent combination of education and experience.Previous education in or minimum of one year working in a metal fabrication-manufacturing environment.
