Maintain and provide for the safe condition and operation of all physical fixtures in district facilities.Education/CertificationHigh School or GED preferredValid AWS Certified Welder (CW) certification or Steel Structures Welding CertificationClear and valid Texas driver's licenseExperienceFour years experience in welding and metal fabricationSpecial Knowledge/SkillsAbility to read blueprints, schematics, and written reference materialAbility to follow written and verbal instructionsAbility to estimate materialsAbility to perform mathematical calculationsAbility to diagnose and resolve problemsAbility to use hand and power toolsMajor Responsibilities and DutiesDemonstrate acceptable work habits, including teamwork, initiative, and dependability.Report to work on time each day.Perform the welder's duties to construct and maintain the building's metalwork and equipment in good repair.Plan and lay out work from blueprints, drawings, models, or verbal instructions.Be able to use a variety of hand tools and measuring instruments.Make standard shop computations related to the dimensions of work and the amount of materials needed for each project.Select materials necessary for the work.Repair windows, furniture, doors, frames, gates, overhead doors, and hardware as necessary.Construct metal structures as directed.Inspect building exterior and interior, playground equipment, and grounds; assign, oversee, and/or perform maintenance and repairs.Detect and report needed repairs on building structures and their systemsSafetyFollow established safety procedures and techniques to perform job duties, including lifting and climbing.
