WelderWelders in McGregor, TX, will work to build structural and/or fluid systems to support various testing campaigns in Central Texas. The welders work with an elite team of other fabricators to rapidly build the large assemblies that will support vehicle and component testing at our test site.Responsibilities:Perform at least two of the following processes, depending upon the needs of the business: Flux-Cored Arc Welding (FCAW), Shielded Metal Arc Welding/stick welding (SMAW), Gas Tungsten Arc Welding/TIG welding (GTAW), and Gas Metal Arc Welding/MIG welding (GMAW)Fit up and weld structures or pipe spools made of mild carbon steel, low alloy, stainless, aluminum, or exotics, depending upon the needs of the businessCommunicate with management/supervisors, engineering staff, and planners to achieve build efficiencyPerform fabrication math to derive dimensions, angles, pup lengths, part locations, etc., from drawings (understand take-offs for pipe fittings)Analyze engineering drawings and specifications to plan fitting and welding operations where procedural information is unavailableMake a continuous effort to improve operations, decrease turnaround times, streamline work processes, and work cooperatively and jointlyCheck drawings and instructions after each Work Order operation to ensure they are completeHandle and dispose of hazardous materials in an approved mannerSet up safety equipment and work platforms at elevationPerform other related duties, as assigned, for the purpose of ensuring an efficient and effective work environmentBasic Qualifications:High school diploma or equivalency certificate2+ years of experience (experience from a college welding program qualifies) in two of the following processes: Flux-Cored Arc Welding (FCAW), Shielded Metal Arc Welding/stick welding (SMAW), Gas Tungsten Arc Welding/TIG welding (GTAW), or Gas Metal Arc Welding/MIG welding (GMAW)Preferred Skills and Experience:5+ years of experience in one of the following processes: FCAW, SMAW, GTAW, or GMAWKnowledge of standard tools, materials, and work practices of the welding tradeKnowledge of occupational hazards and effective safety precautions of the tradeExperience using overhead cranes and forkliftsAbility to rapidly change focus in a high-paced, challenging work environmentAdditional Requirements:Ability to work multiple shifts and change shifts with minimal noticeSchedule varies depending on site operational needs; flexibility requiredAbility to stand for extended periods (8 hours minimum) and lift up to 25 lbs. unassistedAbility to stand, kneel, crouch, climb, twist the upper body, and work in cramped positionsAbility to work at heights up to 100 feet and in confined spacesAbility to work in extreme outdoor environments – heat, cold, rainWork performed in an environment exposed to fumes, odors, sparks, and noiseITAR Requirements:To conform to U.S.
