Welder - FabricatorThis is a hands-on Welder/Fabricator position supporting the production of structural steel components for large commercial construction projects. In this role, you'll read blueprints, fit and weld steel parts, and help build items such as beams, columns, stairs, railings, platforms, and embeds. You'll be responsible for ensuring all work meets quality and safety standards while working in a fast-paced fabrication shop. Candidates should have experience with MIG, flux-core, and metal-core welding, strong attention to detail, and the ability to use technology such as iPads to review drawings and production information.Open to entry levelResponsibilitiesRead and interpret blueprints, shop drawings, and weld symbols.Fit, assemble, and align structural steel components including beams, columns, stairs, and railings.Perform MIG, flux-core, and metal-core welding to quality standards.Set up and adjust welding equipment based on material and weld requirements.Measure and verify dimensions to ensure parts meet specifications before welding.Inspect completed welds and repair defects to ensure quality and compliance.Perform grinding, torch cutting, and material preparation as needed for fabrication.Follow all safety procedures and maintain a clean, organized work area.Additional Skills & QualificationsExperience working in a structural steel fabrication environment.Familiarity with AISC and AWS standards in structural steel fabrication and welding.Experience using automated or CNC-supported fabrication equipment in a shop setting.Experience in saw operation or machine operation related to steel fabrication.Demonstrated participation in Lean Manufacturing or continuous improvement initiatives.Strong pride in workmanship and attention to documentation and traceability requirements.Ability to work effectively on a second-shift schedule, Monday through Thursday.Why Work Here?The organization offers a stable, long-standing operation with a strong commitment to safety, quality, and employee well-being. The shop uses modern technology including automated CNC equipment, 3D modeling, barcode tracking, overhead cranes, and contemporary welding and fit-up stations. An on-staff Certified Welding Inspector supports adherence to AISC and AWS standards and robust safety and quality programs. This is a second-shift position with a schedule of Monday through Thursday, 3:30 p.m. to 2:00 a.m., with guaranteed 50 hours per week and at least 10 hours of overtime. The environment is hands-on and production-focused, with all work performed in the fabrication facility rather than in the field or remotely. The culture is family-based and close-knit, with regular company events such as seasonal gatherings and group activities, including a yearly football season kickoff event with food and drinks. Personal protective equipment is required, and employees are expected to follow established safety procedures and maintain a clean, organized work area. Uniforms are provided at a low cost to support a consistent and professional appearance on the shop floor.Job Type & LocationThis is a Contract to Hire position based out of South Daytona, FL.Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $18.00 - $23.00/hr.
