Welder PositionRequired Competencies, All Welders should have:Skills and experience in welding: Gas Tungsten arc (TIG) weldingGas metal arc (MIG) weldingOxy-acetylene (OAW) welding and brazingExperience with measuring and cutting to size.Experience with measuring and fitting components to desired dimensions.Ability to read drawings and use of measuring toolsBasic understanding of metallurgy.A valid driver's license and good driving record.Daily Activities, the Welder will:Receive direction from the Shop manager about jobs that require completion and about job sequencing and prioritiesAssess existing equipment to identify the need for repairs, rebuilding, resurfacing and refurbishingEnsure that work that is not up to standards does not leave the shop and that all relevant issues are addressedMaintain shop equipment.Inform the Shop Manager of any jobs that require extra time or resources.Ensure that all daily reports, checklists, inspections, Hazard Observations, Job Safety Analysis (JSA), First Aid Records and Spill reports are properly completed and submitted.Participate in shop cleaning duties.Collaborate with and support other team members.Maintain a safe workplace and must participate in safety training and practice.Contribute to a culture of safety awareness.Physical RequirementsThe job requires strenuous activities including walking, bending, climbing and being able to lift.Must be mentally alert at all times
