We are seeking a Digital Accessibility Specialist who will play a key part in modernizing and maintaining accessible, user-centered public and internal web platforms. You will focus on ensuring ADA Level AA compliance, optimizing web content quality, enhancing overall usability, and helping establish sustainable accessibility governance practices across the organization.
Key Responsibilities
• Accessibility Compliance & Auditing: Conduct comprehensive audits and implement updates to ensure internal and external web applications meet ADA Level AA and WCAG 2.1 standards, including remediation of identified barriers.
• Content Optimization: Review, edit, and restructure web content using plain language and inclusive design practices to improve clarity, usability, and accessibility for all users.
• Website Modernization Support: Collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders to refine website navigation, structure, and design based on user-centered design principles.
• Training & Guidance: Provide hands-on guidance, resources, and training to content creators and team members regarding digital accessibility standards and compliant design practices.
• Governance & Workflow Process: Help establish and document ongoing web accessibility review workflows, content maintenance guidelines, and quality standards for long-term sustainability.
• User Experience (UX) Enhancement: Evaluate user feedback and interaction data to recommend improvements that elevate engagement and overall user satisfaction.
• Visual & Graphic Support: Create or refine visual elements (graphics, layouts, templates) ensuring full accessibility compliance and brand consistency.
Education & Experience:
• Bachelor’s degree in Web Design, Digital Media, Communications, Information Technology, or a related field (or equivalent combination of professional experience).
• 3+ years of professional experience in digital accessibility, web management, UX design, or content strategy.
Technical & Professional Skills:
• Demonstrated expertise implementing ADA and WCAG 2.0 / 2.1 Level AA standards.
• Experience with enterprise Web Content Management Systems (CMS), specifically Adobe Experience Manager (AEM).
• Hands-on experience with automated and manual accessibility testing tools (e.g., WAVE, Axe, Siteimprove).
• Strong grasp of user-centered design, information architecture, and plain language principles.
• Familiarity with design tools (Adobe Creative Suite, Figma) and web analytics tools (Google Analytics).
Preferred Qualifications:
• Recognized accessibility certifications (e.g., CPACC, WAS, or equivalent).
• Prior experience working within public sector, enterprise, or government environments.
• Experience managing both internal intranet and public-facing external websites.
Schedule & Work Environment
• Hours: Approximately 25 hours per week distributed across Monday Friday.
• Location: Hybrid arrangement based out of Nashville, TN, combining remote flexibility with periodic coordination or stakeholder meetings onsite.
