We are seeking an experienced Web Accessibility Consultant to support efforts in creating, remediating, testing, and maintaining accessible electronic documents and fillable forms intended for public distribution and internal use.
Working closely with policy and documentation teams, the consultant will ensure all electronic materials comply with WCAG 2.1/2.2 Level AA standards, PDF/UA requirements, and digital accessibility best practices while preserving substantive content, terminology, and legal intent.
Key Responsibilities
• Review and remediate policy documents, protocol manuals, fillable forms, and related digital assets to achieve full accessibility compliance.
• Create accessible Microsoft Word source documents and convert them to compliant, fully tagged PDFs.
• Remediate existing PDFs using Adobe Acrobat Pro to meet WCAG 2.1/2.2 AA and PDF/UA specifications.
• Build and fix accessible electronic and fillable PDF forms, focusing on proper form field labels, grouping, tab order, instructions, radio buttons/checkboxes, and screen-reader usability.
• Perform comprehensive automated and manual testing of document structure, heading hierarchy, reading order, complex tables, alternative text, and keyboard navigation.
• Conduct pre-publication quality control reviews on remediated documents.
• Assist in refining accessible Word and form templates, identifying recurring issues, and recommending upstream process improvements.
Working Conditions:
• Location: Hybrid (Nashville, TN)
• Work Schedule: Monday Friday, 8:00 AM 4:30 PM CST (37.5 hours/week)
