At Apex, you don't just join a company, you help shape what comes next.This role is part-time, remote, must reside or be willing to relocate to Somerset, PA area.Your Responsibilities as a Water / Wastewater Operator (Treatment Plant & Field Services):Travel to client sites to perform operational evaluations of water and wastewater treatment facilities (WTP/WWTP), lift stations, and related infrastructureMonitor and evaluate treatment system performance, including pumps, motors, meters, gauges, and process control systemsCollect, test, and analyze water and wastewater samples; interpret results to assess treatment performance and complianceReview and optimize treatment processes, including chemical feed systems and dosing, to improve efficiency and reliabilityPerform preventive maintenance and corrective repairs on treatment systems, distribution systems, and equipmentInspect, troubleshoot, and repair mechanical and electrical components, including pumps, blowers, valves, and control systemsMonitor system conditions, identify operational issues, and respond to alarms, equipment failures, and emergency conditionsClean, maintain, and service tanks, wet wells, booster stations, and other facilitiesRecord and maintain accurate operational data, maintenance logs, and inspection reports using computerized and manual systemsPrepare clear written reports and communicate findings, recommendations, and corrective actions to supervisors and project managersAssist with system startups, process adjustments, inspections, and routine operationsCoordinate materials, spare parts, and equipment needed for maintenance and operational activitiesOperate company vehicles and equipment safely in accordance with company policiesEnsure compliance with all applicable environmental regulations, permits, and safety requirements (EPA, OSHA, and state standards)Follow all health and safety procedures, including proper use of PPECollaborate with team members and clients to identify operational improvements and implement best practicesPerform additional duties as assignedWhat we're looking for:Prior experience in water or wastewater treatment plant operations, system maintenance, or related environmental services preferredPennsylvania Water/Wastewater Operator License (or ability to obtain within one year)Working knowledge of water and wastewater treatment processes, including chemical feed systems, sampling, and process controlExperience performing preventive maintenance and troubleshooting mechanical and electrical equipment, including pumps, motors, blowers, valves, and control systemsStrong understanding of plant operations, distribution systems, and lift stationsAbility to monitor system performance, interpret data, and identify operational issues in real timeProficiency in collecting and analyzing water and wastewater samples and maintaining accurate records and reportsFamiliarity with regulatory compliance requirements, including EPA, OSHA, and state environmental standardsExperience using computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS), SCADA systems, or similar operational software preferredStrong mechanical aptitude with the ability to perform general repairs and maintenance activitiesAbility to work independently in the field and collaboratively with team members and clientsStrong problem-solving skills and ability to troubleshoot under pressureEffective communication skills, including the ability to prepare clear written reportsValid driver's license and clean driving recordAbility to perform physically demanding work, including lifting, climbing, and working in outdoor environments in varying weather conditionsReside near Somerset, PA or willing to relocate to Somerset, PA areaSponsorship not available now or in the futureWhy you'll love working for us:Cross-training and the ability to work on a variety of projects.Working with the best and brightest in the industry.2,000+ employee national firm with 70+ locations across the US.
