Water Resources EngineerIMEG is hiring a Sr. Water Resources Engineer in Billings, MT, to lead design efforts as a project manager or lead engineer for moderate to complex projects. In this role, you'll work closely with engineers and consultants to provide project direction, engineering solutions, and client-focused outcomes—supporting civil infrastructure and/or site design, with an added focus on water resources work where applicable.
You will also help manage project budgets, support training and mentoring, and collaborate across disciplines to meet project goals and client expectations.Principal ResponsibilitiesCoordinate, oversee and manage projects ranging in size and complexityAssist Project Executives and Client Executives with design scopes of work and fee calculations for proposal generation as well as with contract reviewsCreate project schedules including targets for milestones and deadlinesServe as the point of contact for teams and clientsCreate monthly billings and submit financial information to Accounting in a timely manner; Update billing projections and estimated completion percentage for all projects monthlyEnsure design follows owner standards and requirements, IMEG standards, and code requirements; Ensure design milestone deliverables are achieved, IMEG and client quality control processes are completed, and construction technical support occurs in a timely mannerCollaborate with design staff and coordinate scheduling of projects during all phases of design and construction; Schedule and lead progress meetings and provide meeting documentation.Conduct construction site visits and provide documentation as needed or requestedRespond to and resolve client/construction concerns; Manage change orders and obtain appropriate approvalsAbility to mentor, train, motivate, and lead othersBuild, maintain, and develop client relationshipsRequired Qualifications and SkillsBachelor of Science (BS) Degree in Civil Engineering, or equivalent, requiredProfessional Engineer (PE) License required7 years of experience minimum required, 8 preferred, in the building design consulting industryDemonstrated leadership traits in the Project Management career pathAdept in the technical aspects of one's disciplineMastery of technical and analytical skills including proficiency in the Civil Engineering fieldAbility to perform final quality control check in their area of expertiseAbility to sell work and develop client relationshipsExcellent communication and interpersonal skills; Ability to clearly communicate in both oral and written communication to individuals or groupsAbility to work collaboratively in a team environmentAttention to detail and problem-solving skillsEagerness to adapt to new challengesProficient with MS Office Suite including but not limited to Word, Excel, and OutlookAbility to travel up to 20% with occasional overnight staysThis position is not eligible for sponsorship.Why Join Us IMEG puts people first—with a strong focus on career growth, work-life balance, and meaningful impact.
