If so, the Salton Sea Program may have a position for you! The Department of Fish and Wildlife's Salton Sea Management Program is seeking a motivated, positive and innovative individual to work as a Water Resource Control Engineer located at our Inland Deserts Region Field offices located in Riverside and Imperial Counties. The engineer would need to understand or be willing to learn the biology and needs of the species, working closely with a team of scientists that are restoring habitat for both species and humans.
The position would work as part of the multi-agency Salton Sea Management Program to meet the State Water Resources Control Board Order , which is aimed at minimizing public health and environmental concerns related to the shrinking Salton Sea. Under the general supervision of the Department's Salton Sea Program Manager, the incumbent provides engineering support performing analysis to support the implementation of the Salton Sea Management Program, including the construction and management of approximately 29,800 acres of habitat and dust suppression projects.In order to be eligible for this position, you must either be transfer eligible or take and pass the following exam.This position may be eligible for a telework opportunity in accordance with departmental policies and operational needs. Beginning July 1, 2026, employees will be required to work in-person at least four (4) days per week in alignment with Executive Order N-22-25.
Additional in-office days may be required based on operational needs.Personal Leave Program: Effective July 1, 2025, state employees are subject to temporary salary reductions ranging from 2% to 4.62% in exchange for Personal Leave Program (PLP) hours.
