The Iowa Department of Natural Resources Water Quality Bureau seeks a Water Quality GIS Analyst (Geologist 3) to perform advanced spatial analyses and data visualization using ArcGIS tools, supporting Clean Water Act implementation. The role involves processing monitoring data into interactive maps and digital story maps, developing watershed characterization models, providing GIS training to staff and partners, and serving as a technical liaison with state and federal agencies. This position bridges complex spatial analytics with cross-functional teamwork to enhance public resource management and water quality decision-making.
Key qualifications
- Advanced proficiency with ESRI ArcGIS Pro, ArcGIS Online, and Spatial Analyst tools
- Demonstrated ability to conduct spatial analyses, data visualization, and create cartographic documents
- 6 months' experience or 12 semester hours in water resources (surface/ground water hydrology, watershed dynamics, water quality engineering)
- Experience with LiDAR elevation data, remote sensing principles, and spatial modeling
- Ability to develop mobile field data collection tools and provide GIS training to non-technical staff
