Water Treatment Plant OperatorReady to start your career with the City of Temple?Summary: Responsible for operating, monitoring, controlling, testing, and troubleshooting water supply, treatment plant, distribution system and storage facilities. Work under the direct supervision of a lead operator or supervisor. Must be available to work flexible hours at 24-hour facility to include weekends and holidays.Essential Duties And Responsibilities:Maintains knowledge and skills for the essential operations of the water treatment plant and facilities, including both conventional and membrane treatment, in accordance with State and Federal regulationsOperates and monitors treatment process using Supervisory Controller & Data Acquisition (SCADA); adjusts chemicals and treatment equipment in accordance with regulatory permitsTrains Operator I/II and be able to cover those shifts as neededSolves complex operating problemsPerforms laboratory duties, maintains instruments, monitors quality control, collects samples, conducts analyses, and prepares samples for transportRecommends process control adjustments to ensure optimum treatment and maintenance efforts, forwards to immediate supervisorEnters sample analysis into daily log and ensures accuracy of all records/reports on their shiftMeets daily with the Lead Operator to report performance of the entire systemProvides plant status update to on-coming operator team; accepts plant status update to the preceding operator teamResponds to public complaints or concernsAssists with TCEQ inspections, construction, and maintenance projectsWorks in confined space and works around hazardous chemicalsOperates heavy equipment for facility maintenance including lift and boom trucksAssists with sludge removal, transferring and disposalPerforms preventative maintenance on pumps, motors, and tanks; cleans and services all areas throughout the plantCalibrates and performs maintenance on mechanical, analytical, instrumentation and telemetry equipmentOrders treatment and testing chemicals, and parts, materials, and suppliesDevelops the knowledge and ability to solve problems under normal and stressful conditionsAttends TWUA monthly trainingsMaintains certification and completes continuing education training coursesFollows the city policies, procedures and safety guidelines pertaining to the work area and equipmentPerforms other duties as assignedMinimum Qualifications:High School diploma or equivalentCertificates, Licenses, Registrations:Class "B" Surface Water certification from TCEQThank you for your interest in the position.
