Water Treatment Plant OperatorReady to start your career with the City of Temple?Summary Assists with operating, monitoring, controlling, testing, and troubleshooting water supply, treatment plant, distribution system and storage facilities. Work under the direct supervision of a licensed operator. Must be available to work flexible hours at 24-hour facility to include weekends and holidays.Essential Duties And ResponsibilitiesDevelops basic knowledge and skills for the essential operations of the water treatment plant and facilities, including both conventional and membrane treatment, in accordance with State and Federal regulationsOperates and monitors treatment process using Supervisory Controller & Data Acquisition (SCADA); adjusts chemicals and treatment equipment in accordance with regulatory permitsPerforms laboratory duties, maintains instruments, monitors quality control, collects samples, conducts analyses, and prepares samples for transportEnters sample analysis into daily log and ensures accuracy of all records/reports on their shiftMeets daily with supervisor and reports performance of the entire systemCompletes the required courses and on-the-job training needed for the 'D' Water LicenseAssists with TCEQ inspections, construction, and maintenance projectsWorks in confined space and works around hazardous chemicalsOperates heavy equipment for facility maintenance including lift and boom trucksAssists with sludge removal, transferring and disposalPerforms preventative maintenance on pumps, motors, and tanks; cleans and services all areas throughout the plantCalibrates and performs maintenance on mechanical, analytical, instrumentation and telemetry equipmentDevelops the knowledge and ability to solve problems under normal and stressful conditionsAttends TWUA monthly trainingsMaintains certification and completes continuing educations training coursesFollows the city policies, procedures, and safety guidelinesPerforms other duties as assignedMinimum QualificationsHigh School diploma or equivalentCertificates, Licenses, RegistrationsAbility to obtain a Class "D" Water Licensing from TCEQ within 6 months of employmentThank you for your interest in the position.
