Wastewater Treatment Plant Operator

We're hiring an entry-level Wastewater Treatment Plant Operator to learn and grow skills in plant maintenance and treatment operations. This is a temp-to-hire position starting at $20.00/hour and up to $26.00 per hour DOE, with higher pay available for candidates who already hold a CDL or state wastewater treatment certification.

What You'll Do

• Learn and gain skills involving the maintenance of equipment and servicing work in the plant
• Operate treatment facilities to control flow and processing of water/wastewater, sludge, and effluent
• Operate valves and gates manually or by remote control; start and stop pumps, engines, and generators to control flow and treatment processes
• Monitor gauges, meters, and control panels
• Observe and report abnormalities to supervisor
• Maintain shift logs and record meter and gauge readings
• Collect samples and perform routine laboratory tests and analyses
• Perform routine maintenance functions and custodial duties
• Understand and carry out oral and written directions
• Establish and maintain cooperative relationships with those contacted during the course of work

What You Bring

• High school diploma or GED
• Valid driver's license

Preferred Qualifications

• Knowledge of the principles, methods, and tools used in general operation of engines, pumps, and related equipment
• General maintenance experience and safe work practices
• Basic biological and chemical principles knowledge
• CDL or State Wastewater Treatment Certification (results in higher starting pay)
