Operator-In-Training

Seeking an Operator-In-Training to support the operation and maintenance of a wastewater treatment plant, including equipment maintenance and quality control testing.

$20.00 - $24.00 per hour

Key Responsibilities:
  • Operate treatment facilities to control flow and processing of wastewater, sludge, and effluent
  • Observe variations in operating conditions and interpret meter and gauge readings
  • Perform preventive maintenance on equipment
  • Collect samples and perform quality control testing
  • Maintain shift logs
  • Perform other duties as required
Required Qualifications:
  • Basic experience operating water/wastewater treatment plants
  • Some experience with pumps
  • Basic understanding of Microsoft Office Suite and ability to enter data into a maintenance management system
  • Valid driver's license
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Current, or working toward, a first-level water/wastewater treatment certification
  • Basic familiarity with water/wastewater treatment plant operations, valves, pumps, and motors
  • Safe work practices
Work Environment:

This is a safety-sensitive position requiring successful completion of Fitness for Duty testing. Physical demands include standing, walking, stooping, kneeling, squatting, grasping, reaching, and repetitive hand movements, along with dexterity, grip strength, and climbing as needed. Work areas may involve indoor/outdoor conditions, loud noise, active machinery, high-pressure fluid systems, electrical equipment, confined spaces, heights and depths, fumes, airborne particles, and chemicals. Appropriate safety equipment is mandatory.
