Supervisor, Cold Storage WarehouseLocation: Mount Crawford, VAReports To: Facility Manager/Operations ManagerWork Hours: 5:00 AM to 5:00 PM *** 12 Hours Rotating Schedule 2-2-3 ***Compensation: $65,000 - $75,000 / AnnuallyResponsibilities:Plan and supervise the operation of one or more customers within the cold storage facilityPlan and supervise the receipt, storage, issuance and disposal of all items, including items requiring specialized handlingAssist HR with interviewing, hiring, and training of hourly positionsMonitor employee morale and other employee related issues, keeping management abreast of any items that may be of concernProvide hands-on leadership to the ongoing development of the assigned personnel and teamsSupervise general labor personnel within unloading/loading operation Ensure adequate staffing, direction and disciplineUtilize the optimal number of hourly personnel to fulfill service requirements while maximizing productivityMinimize labor costs while providing timely serviceProcess and monitor time and attendance for all warehouse employeesDevelop methods of efficient space utilizationWork with management and customer service personnel to ensure that all requirements and requests are responded to in a professional mannerPlan and supervise the rotation of stock, where applicableSupervise and participate in periodic internal, customer, and regulatory inspectionsAssist with development, implementation, and maintenance of comprehensive programs in the areas of safety, industrial hygiene, environmental health, and fire safetyDevelop preventive programs to identify and reduce risks from potential hazards in the workplace and to comply with OSHA and any other regulatory agenciesEnsure handling of hazardous materials complies with state and federal regulationsAssist with overseeing maintenance and preventive maintenance of the warehouse and warehouse equipmentAssist management with any necessary compliance corrective actions and retain all associated documentationOther duties as assignedQualifications:Knowledge of warehousing operations including receipt, storage, issuance, distribution, and disposal of a wide variety of commoditiesKnowledge of computerized warehousing inventory control and inventory practicesKnowledge of supervisory methods, principals and practicesKnowledge of commercial shipping methods, terminology and equipmentKnowledge of facilities maintenanceAbility to analyze pertinent factors related to stock and inventory controlAbility to determine material requirements for specific or specialized projectsAbility to develop and maintain effective working relationshipsAbility to coordinate and schedule the work activity for assigned personnelAbility to supervise warehouse staff in the performance of material receipt, storage, shipping/distribution and record keeping functionsAbility to multitaskWork Environment:Atmosphere range -10 to +50 degrees FNoise level in the work area is usually moderatePersonal interaction and communication required to and from other people is extremely highDaily workflow is fast paced, dependent on daily and seasonal customer requirementsTraining and Experience:Any combination of training and experience equivalent to completion of a 2-year college degree and three (3) years of warehousing experience in a moderate size warehouse.Five (5) years of supervisory experience is required.License/Certificates:Possession of a valid states driver license is required.**Pre-employment background check, drug test, and physical are required****All applicants must complete an application to be considered**
