Summary
The Warehouse Manager is responsible for supervising and planning inbound, outbound, and product slotting operations, ensuring efficient labor scheduling, space utilization, equipment usage, and customer communication. This role manages a team, conducts performance appraisals, trains new hires, and maintains high standards of safety, quality, and service.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Conduct staff meetings and review daily/weekly activities to drive continuous improvement.
- Communicate critical operational issues to senior management and client representatives.
- Develop and enforce systems and procedures for safe, profitable operations, meeting productivity and service goals.
- Implement cost‑saving measures and propose more efficient processes.
- Ensure compliance with client KPIs, quality system requirements, and company policies.
- Provide leadership, counseling, and disciplinary support to associates; assist with recruitment, training, and professional development.
- Plan daily work schedules, assess priorities, assign duties, and manage workforce resources.
- Analyze job trends, reorganize warehouse space, and adjust staffing or inventory as needed.
- Train new staff and assess progress; delegate responsibilities to experienced team members.
- Maintain visibility of job performance, offer guidance, and address issues promptly.
- Assist in physical operations and achieve results by leveraging team strengths.
- Motivate staff and provide development opportunities.
- Lead annual performance reviews; support adherence to SOPs.
Additional Duties
- Work evenings and weekends as required.
- Perform other duties as requested.
Supervisory Responsibilities
- Supervise warehouse associates and team leads.
- Escalate issues to management.
- Assist operations or general manager as needed.
- Follow all safety procedures.
- Maintain equipment, supplies, and documentation.
- Adhere to all DSV policies and regulatory requirements.
Minimum Required Qualifications
Education and Experience
- High school diploma or GED.
- 3+ years in a logistics or distribution environment.
- 1+ year supervisory experience.
- Ability to operate material handling equipment (MHE).
Certificates
- Forklift training completion.
Preferred Qualifications
- Some college education.
- 2–4 years of supervisory experience.
- 2–4 years forklift experience.
- Current or prior MHE certification.
Physical Demands
Requires manual handling up to 40 lbs, standing up to 8 hours, and use of hand and eye coordination.
Work Environment
Low to moderate noise; minimal exposure to fumes or hazardous chemicals.
Compensation & Benefits
Annual base salary $80,000 – $90,000. Eligibility for a performance‑based bonus program.
