Steel Transport Driver
Duties And Responsibilities
Safely transport steel materials using a flatbed truck. Properly secure steel loads using chains, straps, binders, and other required tie-down equipment. Inspect loads before and during transport to ensure materials remain properly secured. Perform pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections and report mechanical or safety concerns. Deliver materials safely, on time, and in good condition. Maintain accurate driving records, including mileage, fuel usage, and hours of service. Follow all DOT regulations, traffic laws, and company safety procedures. Communicate effectively with supervisors, customers, and other team members.
Qualifications
Valid Class A CDL. Previous flatbed driving experience. Experience hauling and securing steel or similar heavy materials strongly preferred. Experience with chains, straps, binders, and proper load securement/tie-down procedures. Clean driving record. Knowledge of DOT regulations and safety requirements. Ability to safely and confidently operate a flatbed truck. Ability to work independently with limited supervision. Dependable with strong communication and customer service skills.
Education And Experience
High school diploma or equivalent preferred. Previous commercial driving and flatbed hauling experience required.
Physical Requirements
Sitting and standing for prolonged periods. Frequent bending, stooping, squatting, stretching, and twisting. Pushing and pulling. Ability to lift up to 75 pounds. Ability to safely handle chains, straps, binders, and other load-securing equipment.
