WABC Executive Producer

Job Description

WABC-TV is seeking an Executive Producer to oversee Eyewitness News newscasts. The role requires a proven leader with excellent news judgment, strong writing skills, a passion for breaking news, and the creativity to produce impactful content. This position will collaborate with other newsroom leaders to develop coverage strategies and manage staff.

This is an on-site position located in New York, New York.

Responsibilities

• Lead live breaking news and event coverage; ready to step into the producer chair when needed.
• Identify moments that connect with viewers and ensure content impact and relevance.
• Supervise linear producers, writers, and reporters; proof scripts and provide feedback.
• Encourage the use of creative production techniques to enhance stories.
• Manage staffing needs and foster a positive, collaborative workplace.
• Fill in for other EP shifts as required.

Basic Qualifications

• Minimum 7 years of experience in local television news production.
• Ability to work under deadline pressure in a fast-paced environment.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Flexibility with working hours and adaptability to change.
• Proficiency in digital, social media, and streaming platforms.

Preferred Qualifications

• Knowledge of Dalet.
• Management experience in a top 20 market.
• Previous experience managing successful newscasts.
• Familiarity with the tri-state area (optional).

Required Education

• Bachelor’s degree.

The hiring range for this position in New York is $145,800 to $195,500 per year. Potential bonuses and long-term incentive units may be offered in addition to a comprehensive benefits package.
