JCW is partnered with one of the leading brokers in the tax insurance industry seeking an VP of Tax Controversy to join its rapidly growing team. This newly created, client-facing advisory role is ideal for entrepreneurial professionals interested in advising on tax controversy and litigation matters, including some of the most complex and high-profile issues arising from M&A, restructuring, and cross-border transactions.
Key Responsibilities
- Advise clients on tax controversy and litigation risks in connection with transactional and post-transaction matters.
- Partner with law firms, insurers, and internal deal teams to assess coverage, structure policies, and support underwriting.
- Analyze IRS audits, disputes, and litigation matters, including exposure assessment and resolution strategy.
- Draft and review technical tax analyses, submissions, and supporting documentation for insurance placement.
- Serve as a trusted advisor to clients throughout the lifecycle of insured tax matters.
Qualifications
- J.D. required, LLM strongly preferred.
- 3+ years of experience at a law firm, accounting firm, or relevant in-house tax role.
- Experience in a federal tax controversy specialized role required, litigation knowledge is a plus.
- Ability to clearly explain complex tax concepts.
- Proven ability to partner cross-functionally and perform in fast paced work environments.
- Strong leadership and presentation skills.
