$200,000.00/yr - $250,000.00/yr
Overview
Seeking an experienced finance and accounting professional to oversee critical aspects of fund and management company operations. This role will manage a cross-functional team, lead key accounting and compliance initiatives, and ensure the highest quality of financial reporting and controls. The ideal candidate brings both technical expertise and strong leadership skills, with a proven track record in alternative investments.
Key Responsibilities
Leadership & Team Management
- Manage and mentor a team of four professionals across tax, fund finance, and management company accounting.
- Foster a collaborative, high-performance culture while ensuring effective delegation and development of staff.
- Review all fund and management company financial statements prior to distribution, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and timeliness.
- Lead the management company expense allocation process, ensuring proper documentation and adherence to policies.
- Oversee treasury operations, including all banking payments, and review capital activity of the funds (contributions and distributions).
Third-Party & Operational Oversight
- Manage relationships with key third parties, including fund administrators, banking partners, audit firms, and other service providers.
- Collaborate with external compliance partners to ensure accurate and timely Know Your Customer (KYC) sign-offs for new investors.
Compliance & Risk Management
- Assist with compliance-related matters, including preparation of regulatory filings, compliance data tracking, and fund covenant monitoring.
- Support internal controls and best practices to mitigate financial and operational risk.
- Partner with the investor relations team to address Limited Partner (LP) questions during fundraising.
- Coordinate with third-party compliance firms to meet onboarding and reporting requirements for new investors.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance (advanced degree a plus).
- Public accounting foundation, ideally with Big 4 experience.
- 8+ years of progressive experience within the alternative investment industry.
- Strong technical skills, particularly in Excel and financial modeling.
- Demonstrated ability to interact with and present to senior management and stakeholders.
- Strong leadership and team-building skills.
- Excellent attention to detail with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
- Effective communicator, capable of explaining complex financial concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Problem-solver who thrives in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
