VP of Finance

Overview

Bay Colony Search has been retained to hire a VP of Finance for a small, but growing, industrial manufacturer in Baltimore. The role reports to the President and is a strategic partner to him and the private equity sponsor. This is a smaller company with just one other person in Accounting/Finance, so the candidate must be both strategic and tactical and capable of performing journal entries.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Responsible for month end close functions by preparing journal entries and performing quarterly balance sheet reconciliations
• Prepare and maintain annual budgets and multi-year forecasts; analyze budget/forecast variances and financial trends
• Ensure effective internal controls and compliance with GAAP and applicable federal, state, and local regulatory laws and rules for financial and tax reporting
• Monitor financial covenants of in-debt agreements, prepare quarterly compliance reports, and maintain lender relationships
• Oversee daily cash activities and capital distributions
• Manage annual financial audit, including developing the audit schedule and interacting with auditors
• Present financials to the Board on a quarterly basis
• Partner with other leaders to develop and implement process improvements and new technologies to create a more efficient accounting department
• Evaluate potential acquisitions and assist with integration if a transaction is completed

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree mandatory; Master’s degree in Accounting or Finance preferred
• 8+ years of accounting and finance experience; experience in a small company (<$30M) preferred
• Desire to be part of a smaller company
• Experience in a manufacturing environment
• Ideally experience with private equity-backed businesses
• Ability to be a strategic partner to the CEO
• Strong communication skills with the ability to present to a Board
• ERP implementation experience
