Role Summary:

Gender Freedom Society is searching for a (Volunteer) Systems Administrator to join our team. The (Volunteer) Systems Administrator ensures the seamless operation and development of our digital infrastructure. They will contribute to the organization's mission by leveraging technology to optimize efficiency, communication, and outreach efforts.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Install, configure, administer, and maintain Linux servers and enterprise infrastructure.
  • Deploy, manage, and troubleshoot Proxmox VE virtualization clusters.
  • Provision and maintain virtual machines, Linux containers (LXC), and storage resources.
  • Configure and administer Cisco networking equipment, including switches, routers, VLANs, and firewalls.
  • Monitor infrastructure performance, availability, and capacity to ensure maximum uptime.
  • Perform server hardware installation, upgrades, maintenance, and lifecycle management.
  • Implement and maintain backup, disaster recovery, and high-availability solutions.
  • Troubleshoot complex hardware, Linux operating system, virtualization, storage, and networking issues.
  • Perform system patching, firmware updates, and security hardening of Linux systems.
  • Maintain accurate documentation of infrastructure, network topology, configurations, and standard operating procedures.
  • Evaluate new technologies and recommend improvements to infrastructure reliability, security, and scalability.

Qualifications:

  • Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or equivalent professional experience.
  • 2+ years of Linux systems administration experience.
  • Hands-on experience administering Proxmox VE in a production environment.
  • Strong experience with Linux distributions such as Debian, Ubuntu, or Rocky Linux.
  • Experience administering Cisco networking equipment and enterprise TCP/IP networks.
  • Solid understanding of virtualization technologies, clustering, high availability, snapshots, live migration, and storage.
  • Experience with enterprise server hardware (Dell, HPE, Lenovo, Supermicro, or similar).
  • Strong understanding of ZFS, RAID, SAN, NAS, and enterprise storage concepts.
  • Experience with Linux security hardening, SSH, firewalls, and access management.
  • Experience with backup and disaster recovery solutions.
  • Strong troubleshooting and analytical skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
