Volunteer Program CoordinatorThe Volunteer Program Coordinator is responsible for coordination of patient care volunteers to meet patient and family needs of NorthStar Care Community (NSCC). Essential Functions include working with the Manager, Volunteer Program to identify and recruit patient care volunteers, arranging for volunteers for every appropriate patient, maintaining volunteer plan of care in electronic health record, ensuring all volunteer standards comply with State and Federal regulations, participating in quality improvement initiatives, evaluating the effectiveness, quantity and quality of services provided by volunteers, providing avenues for volunteer support, communication and recognition, actively participating in meetings at the individual, group and organizational levels, projecting future needs through ongoing assessments and developing plans to meet those needs, screening, orienting, training, supervising, evaluating and supporting volunteers, maintaining accurate records of volunteer information, adhering to the organizational Code of Conduct, policies and procedures, protocols and processes and all regulatory and legal requirements, and adhering to NorthStar standards to care for every person, every time, 100% of the time.Marginal Functions include performing other related duties as assigned.Supervision includes reporting to the Manager, Volunteer Program or designee; close working relationship with Director; supervising patient care volunteers.Working Relationships include close relationship with the interdisciplinary team and volunteers. Occasional contact with administrative and support departments. Occasional contact with other agencies, facilities and community programs.Qualifications include an Associate’s degree required. Bachelor’s degree preferred.

Two (2) to five (5) years’ work experience with increasing level of responsibility required. Previous experience in training, coordinating and scheduling paid or unpaid staff preferred. Work experience in a healthcare and/or hospice setting preferred. Ability to effectively communicate in both internal and external relationships. Demonstrated experience in public speaking.

Demonstrated knowledge of community resources related community outreach and volunteer services. Demonstrated ability to work independently while functioning as part of a cooperative and coordinated team. Ability to use technology (hardware and software) NorthStar Care Community requires. Must possess excellent interpersonal skills, sound judgment, effective organizational, prioritization and follow-through skills, attention to detail, tact, dependability, emotional intelligence and the ability to promote positive, constructive relationships with communication and collaboration at all levels with the ability to maintain confidentiality. The physical demands of the position include: vision, effective speech and hearing for extensive telephone contact; repetitive motion; traveling; driving or riding in motor vehicle; standing, sitting, walking, bending, reaching, and stretching; lifting up to twenty-five (25) pounds unassisted.

Proof of current tuberculin testing required; will not be allowed patient contact until tuberculin clearance is documented. Must have reliable transportation. Must be eligible to work in the United States.
