Facilitate healthy, safe, productive visits between foster children and their biological parents in
order to strengthen their relationship and lay the groundwork for eventual reunification.
Qualifications:
21 years or older with at least a high school diploma or equivalent
Valid driver's license, driving record, and insurance
At least 12 months of experience working with children and families
Ability to develop positive relationships with people from marginalized populations
Supportive of biological parents and reunification while keeping biases in check
Effective communication, redirection, and de-escalation skills
Ability to work variable working hours, with minimal supervision
Regular access to a reliable phone and laptop (we are a BYOD workplace)
Regular access to a reliable vehicle
Key Responsibilities
Schedule visitation times that account for the child’s routine, foster parent’s schedule,
and biological parent’s availability.
Transport the child to and from visits in a safe and timely manner.
Supervise the visit, ensuring that all interactions between biological parents and child are
safe and appropriate, intervening gently, respectfully, and assertively when needed.
Provide the Social Worker and foster parents appropriate reporting about each visit.
