Loess Hills Media and Podcasts is looking for a creative, detail oriented Video Production Assistant to support our studio’s daily operations. This role combines hands-on video production, editing, media content creation, and general production support. You’ll help manage digital assets, assist with editing, create blog posts and articles, and ensure smooth workflows from concept to final delivery.
This position is ideal for someone who enjoys fast-paced creative environments, has strong visual storytelling instincts, and is comfortable working behind the scenes to keep production running efficiently.
Video Production Assistant Key Responsibilities
• Assist with executing video shoots, including camera setup, lighting, framing, and basic recording.
• Edit raw footage into engaging, polished videos using tools such as Riverside and DaVinci Resolve.
• Create short-form content for social platforms (Reels, TikTok, YouTube Shorts, Instagram).
• Assist with motion graphics, text overlays, sound design, and basic visual effects for podcast production clients.
• Organize, tag, and manage digital media assets for efficient retrieval and workflow.
• Follow established editing processes that meet client’s expectations and our brand standards.
• Support general production tasks such as equipment setup, studio prep, and maintaining a clean, safe workspace.
• Shape transcripts into story driven articles.
• Collaborate with team members and clients to ensure timely delivery of content across multiple channels.
Video Production Assistant Qualifications
• 1-3 years’ experience shooting photos and video using mirrorless cameras.
• 1-3 years’ experience in video editing with an understanding of pacing, composition, and storytelling.
• Working knowledge of Riverside, DaVinci Resolve, and Microsoft Products a plus.
• Ability to create content for social and digital media platforms, such as Spotify, Meta, and YouTube.
• Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple projects at once.
• Willingness to learn and adapt best practices.
• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and meet deadlines.
• Basic understanding of AI Tools and uses.
• Ability to interview and engage with clients pre and post shows demonstrating active listening skills.
• Enthusiastic and driven to take on new challenges.
Physical & Work Requirements
• Ability to stand or sit for extended periods.
• Ability to lift up to 20 30 pounds when handling equipment.
• Comfortable working both indoors and outdoors depending on shoot needs.
• Flexibility with schedule based on production timelines.
• General office work environment, mostly four-hour shifts Monday Friday.
Compensation & Benefits
• $20-$22 per hour depending on experience and skill level.
