About Charter School Growth Fund
The Charter School Growth Fund (CSGF) is a leading nonprofit venture philanthropy organization dedicated to identifying, investing in, and supporting the nation's best public charter schools. Operating with the same strategies, discipline, and focus as a venture capital firm, CSGF awards multi-year grants and loans to talented education entrepreneurs building networks of high-quality charter schools that serve traditionally underserved students. CSGF's portfolio includes over 200 charter school networks operating more than 1,700 schools and serving approximately 725,000 students across the United States. The organization is committed to expanding the impact of schools that are closing achievement and opportunity gaps, with a particular focus on serving students of color and those from low-income backgrounds. CSGF's current portfolio is led by more than 50% leaders of color and more than 50% female leaders, reflecting the organization's commitment to diversity and proximity to the communities served. The organization operates on a fund-based model and is currently in the fifth year of its fourth fund (Fund IV), which represents the largest fund in CSGF's history in both size and scope. This fund continues to fuel charter sector growth, accelerate innovation, and strengthen long-term outcomes for students. CSGF projects that its portfolio could grow to serve approximately 1,000,000 students within a decade, demonstrating the organization's significant influence and growth trajectory in the charter school sector. CSGF's Structured Finance Team plays a critical role in the organization's mission by alleviating finance and facilities as barriers to growth and success. The team oversees more than $650 million in loan funds, including the recently launched $500 million Dell Catalyst Fund. This team combines the strategic consulting approach with impact investing expertise, providing comprehensive support to charter school operators nationwide.
