Vice President / Senior Vice President, Finance and Operations

POSITION OVERVIEW

GDEV seeks to hire a Vice President or Senior Vice President of Finance and Operations to join the firm in New York City. This person will report directly to the Managing Partner and will have broad responsibility across GDEV’s financial and operational activities. This is a hands‑on, high‑ownership role suited to someone who wants to build and run the operational backbone of a scaling alternative asset management platform.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Serve as the ultimate owner of GDEV’s finance and operations function
• Manage firm operations, including vendor and service‑provider relationships, insurance, payroll and benefits administration, employee work contracts and onboarding, and general office operations
• Oversee GDEV’s information technology infrastructure, including hardware, software, and IT service providers
• Oversee and support GDEV’s Controller, who will retain day‑to‑day responsibility for bookkeeping, fund accounting, tax, audit, and cash management, and who will report to the VP / SVP of Finance and Operations
• Produce investor material, including LP reporting, quarterly investor reports, capital account statements, and responses to ad hoc investor and due diligence requests, and contribute to fundraising operations (dataroom management, contributions to DDQs, production of material), and coordinate ESG/impact reporting to investors
• Oversee, in collaboration with the Controller, treasury strategy across the management company and fund entities, including capital call timing, liquidity planning, and banking relationships (day‑to‑day cash management is executed by the Controller)
• Maintain and continue to build out GDEV’s regulatory compliance program, including SEC/Investment Advisers Act obligations, required regulatory filings, code of ethics, firm’s annual compliance review, compliance of marketing and investor communications and support the firm’s response to any regulatory exams or inquiries
• Monitor and ensure compliance with covenants and reporting requirements under GDEV’s credit facilities and other financing arrangements
• Oversee the creation and maintenance of financial models and budgets for the management company, including headcount planning, expense forecasting, and profitability analysis
• Maintain GDEV’s cybersecurity program and business continuity / disaster recovery plan
• Oversee logistics for GDEV’s global business travel and coordinate planning for the firm’s Annual General Meeting and other firm events, including venue selection, scheduling, and cross‑team coordination
• Evaluate, select, and implement systems and process improvements across accounting, reporting, and portfolio monitoring functions as the GDEV platform scales
• Partner with the investment team on portfolio company financial matters, including diligence support and monitoring of portfolio company reporting, as needed
• Mentor the Controller and the broader finance and operations staff as the team grows

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, AND TRAITS

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or a related field; CPA and/or MBA a plus
• 10-15 years or more of progressively responsible finance and operations experience at a middle‑market private equity fund
• Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple workstreams and deadlines independently
• High degree of ownership and a builder’s mentality; comfortable operating with real autonomy at a lean, fast‑growing platform
• Sound judgment and discretion in handling sensitive financial and investor information
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to work directly with the Managing Partner, investors, auditors, and outside counsel
• Strong working knowledge of fund accounting, capital calls and distributions, waterfall structures, NAV and subscription lending, and LP reporting
• Experience with quarterly private equity fund valuation processes and coordinating with fund administrators, auditors, or third‑party valuation providers, a plus
• Working knowledge of fund and partnership tax concepts (K-1s, waterfall allocations) and fund governance documents (LPA amendments, side letters), with experience coordinating outside tax and legal advisors, a plus
• Familiarity with SEC/Investment Advisers Act regulatory requirements; direct exposure to audits, regulatory exams, or compliance programs strongly preferred
• Advanced Excel skills and experience with fund accounting and reporting systems; comfort overseeing technology vendors and infrastructure, including basic cybersecurity and business continuity practices, a plus
• Initial understanding / working knowledge of AI tools (e.g. Claude) and a desire to implement process improvements on an ongoing basis related to AI integration
• Genuine interest in taking on increasing scope as the firm and its capital base scale
