Vice PresidentJob Level: Vice President Job Function: Governance & Assurance Location: Jersey City, NJ, US Employment Type: Full Time The anticipated salary range for this role is between $113,000.00 and $140,000.00. The specific salary offered to an applicant will be based on their individual qualifications, experiences, and an analysis of the current compensation paid in their geography and the market for similar roles at the time of hire.

In addition to cash compensation, SMBC offers a competitive portfolio of benefits to its employees.Role ObjectivesDesign, develop, and enhance the firm's Operational Risk Scenario Design and Stress Testing framework, integrating multiple risk programs including Internal Loss Data, External Loss Data, Key Risk Indicators, Risk and Control Self Assessments, Control Testing, and Risk Appetite.Lead the Scenario Design and Stress Testing program, including development of risk scenarios, calibration of models, and quantification of stress capital in line with regulatory expectations.Conduct and facilitate Subject Matter Expert (SME) workshops, guiding participants through scenario development, risk assessment, estimation methodologies, and capital determination processes.Build and continuously enhance risk models, processes, methodologies, policies and procedures to support operational risk measurement, capital adequacy, and regulatory submissions, particularly in preparation for the Comprehensive Capital Analysis and Review (CCAR) bank requirements.Collaborate with stakeholders across front office, back office, and risk management teams to ensure accurate capture, validation, and analysis of operational risk exposures.Develop and implement AI/ML-based predictive and analytical tools to automate and streamline data collection, risk analysis, and stress testing processes.Ensure compliance with U.S. regulatory standards for operational risk (Federal Reserve Bank, Office of the Comptroller of the Currency, and Dodd-Frank Act stress testing principles) including governance, documentation, validation, and reporting requirements.Manage and oversee the Operational Risk Appetite program, ensuring that risk tolerance metrics (measures and limits) are aligned with the firm's strategic objectives and regulatory guidance.Prepare senior management and board-level presentations, reports, and recommendations to communicate stress testing outcomes, risk appetite metrics, and capital implications.Drive annual enhancements to operational risk programs, leveraging data insights and regulatory feedback to ensure the framework remains robust, scalable, and compliant.Qualifications and SkillsMaster's degree in enterprise risk management, finance, or a related field plus 1 year of experience.Experience must include the following: operational risk frameworks such as internal loss data, external loss data, key risk indicators, risk and control self-assessments, control testing and risk appetite; risk modeling; scenario design and stress testing methodologies; U.S. regulatory standards such as Federal Reserve Bank, Office of the Comptroller of the Currency, and Dodd-Frank Act stress testing principles; quantitative, statistical, and machine learning techniques such as data automation; data analysis tools and programming languages such as Python, and SQL.SMBC's employees participate in a Hybrid workforce model that provides employees with an opportunity to work from home, as well as, from an SMBC office.
