This senior leadership role is responsible for driving regional growth, cultivating strong client relationships, and leading high-performing teams, with a focus on the Education and Healthcare sectors. The ideal candidate will bring strong local relationships, a strategic mindset, and the ability to both win work and successfully deliver it while growing the business from both a client and team perspective.Location:San Diego, CAKey ResponsibilitiesExecutive Leadership & Strategy:Lead and grow the San Diego regional business unit with full P&L responsibilityDevelop and execute strategic growth initiatives aligned with company objectivesBuild, mentor, and lead high-performing, multidisciplinary teamsCollaborate with executive leadership to align regional and company-wide goalsIdentify and pursue new business opportunities, including early-stage client engagementOperations & Project Oversight:Oversee all phases of construction projects, from preconstruction through closeoutEnsure compliance with DSA regulations and requirementsDrive performance related to schedule, budget, safety, and qualityProactively identify and mitigate project risksImplement best practices, tools, and processes to improve efficiency and consistencyBusiness Development:Lead and support pursuit strategies, including RFQs, RFPs, and client interviewsDrive business development efforts within the Education and Healthcare marketsQualificationsBachelor's degree in construction management, Engineering, Business, or related field (or equivalent experience)10+ years of experience in construction operations, preconstruction, or business developmentProven leadership experience within the AEC or related industryStrong understanding of Education and/or Healthcare construction sectorsDemonstrated success in business development and revenue growthExperience building and scaling teams and operationsEstablished network and presence in the San Diego marketProven track record of securing work through RFQs/RFPs and relationship-based pursuitsEntrepreneurial mindset with the ability to build and grow a businessValid driver's licenseCompensationFull-TimeSalary Range: $175,000/year – $250,000/year (based on experience)Benefits100% employer-paid health insurance100% employer-paid dental and vision insurance401(k) with company matchPaid time off, sick days, and wellness daysPaid holidaysDiscretionary bonus programCompany-sponsored community eventsRecruiting referral bonusesCompany credit cardPhone allowanceAnnual holiday party with hotel accommodationS+B James Construction is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
