Founded in the early 1970s, this organization specializes in commercial, industrial, and government security fencing, including:
- Chain link, ornamental, and wood fencing
- Security gates, entry control, bollards, and crash barriers
- Perimeter security systems
- Public works and high‑security infrastructure projects
Clients include major data centers, utilities, school districts, universities, and large general contractors throughout Oregon, Washington, and Northern California.
Position Overview
The Vice President of Operations is responsible for overseeing all operational functions of the company while taking the lead on complex estimating and project management assignments. This role partners closely with the President, General Manager, estimators, and project managers to ensure accurate bidding, efficient project execution, and high‑quality results across all commercial and government‑end‑user work.
Key Responsibilities
- Estimate and bid complex commercial and government‑end‑user fencing projects
- Conduct detailed site assessments and develop scopes of work
- Prepare accurate cost and material estimates
- Review bid packages and contracts for compliance and profitability
- Collaborate with the President on major bids and awarded projects
Project Management
- Serve as project manager for awarded jobs
- Oversee materials procurement, scheduling, and day‑to‑day field operations
- Ensure crews are equipped, scheduled, and supported
- Coordinate with subcontractors such as concrete and excavation trades
- Ensure projects meet quality, safety, and schedule expectations
Operations & Leadership
- Lead daily operations in partnership with the General Manager
- Support coordination between office staff (7 employees) and field crews (32 employees)
- Maintain efficiency across estimating, procurement, and project management workflows
- Review and approve bids for accuracy and completeness
- Implement process improvements to strengthen performance and profitability
Quality, Safety & Compliance
- Uphold regulatory and jobsite safety requirements
- Maintain high standards for workmanship, documentation, and communication
- Ensure all work meets or exceeds specifications and client expectations
Financial & Strategic Oversight
- Monitor budget performance and address risks proactively
- Improve estimating accuracy and operational consistency
- Contribute to long‑term strategic planning and company growth
Qualifications
- 10+ years of progressive leadership in commercial fencing, security perimeter work, or related specialty construction
- 7+ years estimating and overseeing large‑scale fencing or high‑security projects
- Strong understanding of state, local, and federal fencing standards and requirements
- Experience working with general contractors and government specifications preferred
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel; Bluebeam or Procore experience is a plus
- Strong communication, leadership, and problem‑solving skills
- Strong preference for candidates with direct fencing industry experience
Certifications or affiliations such as AFA, CFP, or other fencing/security credentials are valued but not required.

- Salary: $120,000–$130,000 (up to $160,000 for highly qualified candidates)
