The Vice President, Operations is responsible for optimizing the organization's operational functions to ensure efficiency, profitability, and strategic alignment. This role involves overseeing daily operations, managing cross-functional teams, driving process improvements, and implementing strategic initiatives that support growth, scalability, and competitive advantage.

Key Responsibilities

Strategic Planning and Execution

  • Collaborate with executive leadership to develop operational strategies that support overall business goals.
  • Translate company strategies into actionable operational plans and key performance indicators (KPIs).
  • Regularly assess operational performance and adjust strategies to meet targets and improve profitability.

Operational Efficiency and Process Improvement

  • Identify, evaluate, and implement process improvements to enhance productivity, quality, and efficiency.
  • Lead initiatives to streamline operations, reduce costs, and improve service delivery.
  • Implement best practices in operations management and maintain standard operating procedures (SOPs).

Team Leadership and Development

  • Oversee and mentor department heads and managers, ensuring alignment and consistent performance.
  • Develop a high-performing team by providing coaching, training, and professional development opportunities.
  • Foster a culture of collaboration, accountability, and continuous improvement.

Financial Oversight and Budget Management

  • Develop and manage budgets for the operations division, aligning financial resources with strategic priorities.
  • Track, analyze, and report on financial performance metrics related to operational costs and efficiencies.
  • Implement cost-control initiatives without compromising quality or customer satisfaction.

Risk Management and Compliance

  • Ensure compliance with regulatory and legal standards relevant to operations.
  • Identify and mitigate operational risks, including safety, quality control, and data security.
  • Develop and oversee risk management and contingency plans.

Supply Chain and Vendor Management

  • Oversee the supply chain and procurement functions within branch operations, ensuring timely, cost-effective sourcing.
  • Establish and maintain relationships with key suppliers, negotiating favorable terms and ensuring service levels.
  • Implement inventory management practices to optimize stock levels and minimize costs.

Customer and Stakeholder Satisfaction

  • Drive a customer-centric approach in operations, ensuring customer needs are met efficiently.
  • Monitor and enhance customer satisfaction by improving service quality and responsiveness.
  • Collaborate with other departments (e.g., sales, marketing, procurement) to align operations with customer expectations.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in operations management, Supply Chain Management, Engineering, or a related field; MBA is a plus.
  • Proven experience in operations leadership roles within the wholesale distribution industry, preferably in plumbing, lighting, appliance, or irrigation supply.
  • Strong understanding of supply chain principles, inventory management, and warehouse operations.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and implement operational strategies to drive business performance and efficiency.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with a focus on data-driven decision-making.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate cross-functionally and lead teams.
