Vice President of Buying - Single Cards

The VP, Buying leads all product sourcing and purchasing activities across the company, ensuring a consistent, high-quality, and strategically aligned supply of inventory. This role oversees procurement across sealed products, singles (raw and graded), and proprietary repack products , while managing multiple buying channels including in-store teams, traveling buyers, and centralized purchasing efforts. Candidates must have direct experiences in buying sealed and single trading cards and TCGs at the market or regional levels.

This leader is responsible for identifying supply opportunities, building vendor relationships, and executing purchasing strategies that align with company demand, channel needs, and inventory plans.

Responsibilities

• Lead sourcing and purchasing across sealed products, singles, and proprietary product lines
• Develop category-level buying strategies aligned with revenue and growth goals
• Identify and execute opportunistic buying opportunities within the trading card market
• Ensure inventory supply supports retail, ecommerce, and live breaking operations
• Align purchasing decisions with channel demand, launches, and promotional activity
• Lead and develop in-store, traveling, and centralized buying teams
• Establish pricing standards, evaluation consistency, and buying accountability across teams
• Build and maintain strong relationships with distributors, dealers, collectors, and key vendors
• Partner with Inventory & Planning to align purchasing volumes with forecasts and inventory performance
• Monitor product quality, pricing discipline, margins, and inventory performance to optimize profitability

Qualifications

• 10+ years of experience in buying, merchandising, or procurement (preferably in collectibles, retail, or adjacent markets)
• Deep knowledge of trading cards (sports and/or TCG strongly preferred)
• Experience managing decentralized buying teams or field-based sourcing
• Strong negotiation and relationship management skills
• Ability to operate in both structured and opportunistic purchasing environments
• Proven ability to scale sourcing operations in a fast-growing business
