Hybrid Contract Management & Strategy

VP, Business Development - Founding Commercial Leader (Healthcare AI)

Posted by: GQR Global Markets (on behalf of a confidential client) Location: New York City (hybrid) Employment type: Full-time, permanent Seniority: Vice President

Our client

GQR is partnering with a venture-backed healthcare AI company on its first commercial hire. The company builds emotionally adaptive AI. The technology reads voice, language, and behavioral cues, senses how a person feels in the moment, and responds with empathy. It keeps a human in the loop by design, so the product extends a clinician or caregiver instead of replacing one.

The first markets are care for people who need it most: autism and behavioral-health services, special-needs education, and elder care. The science is real and the early interest is warm. What the company needs now is the person who turns that interest into signed revenue.

The role

This is the founding commercial seat. You own go-to-market from zero and build the function around you. The company has door-openers and warm interest. It needs a closer who finds the economic buyer inside an organization, runs the full cycle, and gets contracts signed. You carry the company voice into every first meeting and turn a new category into booked revenue.

What you will own

  • Build the commercial motion end to end: pipeline, process, pricing posture, and close.
  • Land the first reference logos and turn them into proof the next buyer trusts.
  • Define the sales playbook and the 30/60/90 with the founders, then run it.
  • Sit close to the science and translate it into language a non-technical buyer believes.
  • Hire and shape the early commercial team once the motion is proven.

Who fits

  • A track record of closing, not just opening. You have carried a number and hit it.
  • Healthcare or behavioral-health selling experience, so the learning curve on the buyer is short. Autism services, ABA, special education, mental health, or elder care is a strong advantage.
  • Founding or early-stage commercial experience. You have sold a product that needed explaining before it could be bought.
  • Real emotional intelligence. The buyers serve vulnerable people and read it fast.
  • New York City based, or ready to be.

Must-have

  • 7+ years in B2B sales or business development with a clear closing record at the six-figure-plus deal level.
  • Direct experience selling into healthcare, behavioral health, education, or elder care buyers.
  • Comfort owning a quota and a process without a playbook handed to you.

Compensation

  • Base $170,000 - $215,000.
  • Founding equity participation. Equity and scope carry this offer.
