Vice President, Northeast Zone Leader – Underwriting

This isn’t a job for someone who just wants to manage an underwriting team.

Ledgebrook needs someone who can run the Northeast as a business.

You’ll be responsible for the region’s growth, profitability and underwriting performance. That means building the plan, leading the people, developing wholesale broker relationships and knowing what is actually happening across the portfolio.

You’ll have the authority to make decisions—and the accountability that comes with it.

The job involves:

• Leading and developing the Northeast underwriting team
• Owning regional production, profitability and portfolio performance
• Setting and executing the regional business plan
• Providing technical direction on complex casualty risks
• Monitoring pricing, submission flow, hit ratios and loss trends
• Building senior relationships with wholesale brokers
• Recruiting and developing underwriting talent
• Working with actuarial, claims, product and reinsurance teams
• Identifying where to grow—and where not to

Ledgebrook is looking for someone with:

• A strong commercial casualty underwriting background
• Experience within E&S or specialty insurance
• A track record of managing underwriters and driving profitable growth
• Strong relationships across the Northeast wholesale market
• The technical credibility to handle complex casualty referrals
• Experience balancing production targets with underwriting discipline

Knowledge of general liability, construction, habitational, hospitality and manufacturing risks would be particularly relevant.

Experience with MGAs, delegated authority business or specialty carriers would also be useful.

This is likely to suit someone already leading a regional underwriting operation—or a strong underwriting leader who is ready to take full ownership of one.

It probably won’t suit someone who needs layers of approval before making a decision.

Ledgebrook is growing quickly. The environment is entrepreneurial, data-driven and demanding. You’ll have considerable influence over how the Northeast operation is built, but you’ll also be expected to deliver.
