Vice President Mergers Acquisition

CarterPierce has been retained by a private equity-backed growth company to identify its first dedicated Vice President of M&A. The company is pursuing an aggressive growth strategy with acquisitions expected to represent a significant component of value creation over the coming years.

About the Role

Reporting directly to the CEO, this individual will own the M&A function end-to-end, including strategy, sourcing, underwriting, diligence, transaction execution, and early-stage integration. The successful candidate will inherit an active pipeline while building the infrastructure, processes, and team required to support a high-volume acquisition program.

Responsibilities

• Partner with the CEO, Board, and private equity sponsor to develop and execute the company’s acquisition strategy
• Build and manage a diversified proprietary and intermediary-driven sourcing pipeline
• Lead transactions from initial evaluation through LOI, diligence, structuring, negotiation, and close
• Own valuation, financial modeling, investment materials, and transaction recommendations
• Partner cross-functionally to oversee post-close integration through the initial transition period
• Establish scalable M&A processes, reporting, operating cadence, and infrastructure
• Build and develop the internal M&A team as transaction volume grows

Qualifications

• 6-10 years of relevant M&A experience across corporate development, private equity, investment banking, or a highly acquisitive PE-backed company
• Demonstrated experience leading transactions end-to-end
• Track record executing lower-middle-market acquisitions, including founder- or entrepreneur-owned businesses

Required Skills

• Strong technical capabilities across valuation, financial modeling, diligence, transaction structuring, and purchase agreement negotiations
• Commercially minded, relationship-oriented approach to sellers and intermediaries
• Comfortable operating as a hands-on M&A leader while simultaneously building a scalable function and team

Preferred Skills

• Prior experience within a private equity-backed, acquisitive environment strongly preferred
