The Vice President, Information Technology, for Advanced Health Services (AHS) provides overall leadership to help define and drive the multi-year technology vision, strategy, and roadmap to support organizational growth, innovation, and IT support for key customers. Accountable for enterprise technology outcomes, including the financial performance of AHS technology services, while providing oversight of application development, IT operations and infrastructure, cybersecurity, and physical security. Advanced Health Services, LLC (AHS) began as the Information Technology Department for Delta Dental of Idaho (DDID) and continues to provide IT support for the company as a wholly-owned for-profit subsidiary for DDID. This has enabled it to expand its IT services to support other organizations in the healthcare industry. AHS currently has two key customers and offers the following services:
- SaaS offerings in the healthcare space
- Business intelligence and data analytics
- Cybersecurity program development and management
- IT network and help desk management

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Leadership: Help define and drive the organization’s vision, strategy, and roadmap to support business growth and innovation for AHS and its customers. Identify and explore opportunities to further expand AHS services and revenue within oral health, including opportunities in collaboration with other Delta Dental member companies.
- Team Management: Lead, mentor, and inspire high‑performing teams, fostering a culture of collaboration, innovation, and continuous improvement. Help drive innovation and efficiency through the adoption of artificial intelligence (AI) into the company’s processes. Key areas include:
- Enterprise Applications: Oversee teams managing custom‑developed software, configuration and integration with third‑party applications. Collaborate with the national organization to manage the data warehouse and provide data and tools for AHS customers’ analytical needs.
- IT Operations: Oversee a team leading design, implementation, and maintenance of the company’s IT infrastructure, including networks, servers, storage, cloud services, and customer user help desk support.
- Cybersecurity, Physical Security: Provide oversight for individuals protecting company data and systems as well as physical building security.
- Technology Roadmap: Enhance technology roadmap aligned with the company’s long‑term business strategy, with emphasis on scalable platforms, data architecture, and responsible AI integration. Ensure secure data movement and integration across internal systems, customers, and partners to enable advanced analytics, operational efficiency, and AI‑enabled decision‑making. Leads enterprise evaluation, governance, and adoption of advanced technologies, including AI, ensuring technical feasibility, regulatory alignment, and competitive advantage.
- Resource Allocation: Optimize resource allocation portfolio and capacity level to ensure efficient delivery of AHS services and projects, balancing strategic initiatives with day‑to‑day operations.
- Risk Management and Security: Oversee ongoing support and enhancements to robust cybersecurity program. Educate, advise, and influence the business on activities with potential security risk implications. Ensure governance and proper protection for data assets stored on internal systems and public cloud.
- Vendor Management: Cultivate strategic partnerships with technology vendors, negotiate contracts, and evaluate new solutions that add value to the organization.
- Budget Oversight: Develop and manage the AHS budget, monitor expenditures, and ensure fiscal responsibility.
- Innovation and Research: Provide executive direction and technical partnership in evaluation of emerging and advanced technologies, including AI, data platforms, and automation. Assess technical feasibility, regulatory considerations, and market relevance, translating complex technology concepts into actionable strategies that deliver scalable business value and support AHS long‑term objectives.
- DDPA and Member Companies: Serve as liaison to Delta Dental Plans Association and its member companies, staying abreast of trends, issues, services, and initiatives among the Delta Dental community impacting IT and related areas.
- Change Management: Lead organizational change initiatives related to IT transformation, ensuring smooth transitions and adoption of new technologies by customers.
- Customer Engagement: Maintain strong working relationships with AHS’s key customers and their senior leaders. Monitor customer feedback and identify opportunities to strengthen customer satisfaction and engagement.
- Governance and Compliance: Ensure AHS policies, procedures, and practices align with regulatory requirements, DDPA membership requirements, and industry standards. Develop a working level understanding of key HIPAA and other government requirements related to IT.
- Continuous Improvement: Ensure AHS teams continuously evaluate and improve processes and workflows, leveraging automation and emerging technologies to enhance efficiency, reliability, and user satisfaction.
- Personnel Management: Recruit and retain talented team members, ensure effective onboarding, establish appropriate goals, monitor and manage performance consistent with organizational culture, and foster employee engagement. Build leadership bench strength, succession capability, and future technical leadership for AHS.
- Demonstrate commitment to the organization’s vision, mission, values, code of ethics, and compliance/security standards.

REQUIREMENTS
- Bachelor’s degree in information technology, Computer Science, or related field; Master’s degree preferred.
- Five years of progressive experience in IT management. Experience across multiple IT environments, operating models, or industries strongly preferred.
- Delta member company or insurance payer experience strongly preferred.
- Demonstrated understanding of modern software development methodologies, including Agile/Scrum, DevOps, CI/CD pipelines, secure coding practices, and cloud‑native architectures, sufficient to guide teams, ask the right questions, and make informed investment decisions.
- Deep understanding of enterprise application development practices and architectures, enabling effective executive oversight of custom‑built and integrated systems.
- Proven experience leading teams responsible for designing, building, and maintaining mission‑critical internal applications.
- Experience evaluating and integrating emerging technologies, including AI‑enabled solutions, into enterprise environments.
- Strong understanding of data‑driven decision‑making and modern technology architectures.
- Strong strategic thinking and business acumen, with the ability to align technology strategies with business objectives.
- Demonstrated experience in managing large‑scale projects and initiatives.
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence and collaborate at all levels of the organization.
- Strong negotiation and vendor management skills.
- Thorough understanding of IT compliance, data protection, and cybersecurity best practices.
- Relevant certifications are a plus.
