Position Summary:

The Vice President of Fund Accounting is a key role within the Operations department and will be responsible for managing daily fund operations and overseeing the accounting and financial reporting of a portfolio of complex private equity funds within Wafra’s Alternative Investment Division. Vice Presidents should have a strong background in accounting for alternative investment funds, with a focus on private equity, proven client management skills, and the ability to manage and lead a team in monitoring client deliverables and meeting deadlines. Additionally, the vice president is responsible for exercising sound judgment regarding the proper application of accounting principles to complex transactions.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Provide accounting oversight of third-party administrators throughout the NAV and financial reporting process (Primarily U.S GAAP), including capital account statements and all related supporting schedules and financial reporting
  • Review fund governing documents, offering documents, subscription documents, side letters and investment management agreements to ensure proper application of fund terms
  • Assist with review and validation of management fees and waterfall calculations to ensure their accuracy and compliance with fund governing documents
  • Manage fund cash and work with treasury group and portfolio management group as well as manage any fund credit facilities
  • Monitoring of investment transactions, preparation of portfolio track record and analysis
  • Liaise with auditors during annual audit process. Perform review of financial statements and footnotes, ensuring consistency with relevant reporting framework
  • Lead on-going projects and strategic initiatives within the Operations department to improved processes and drive efficiency
  • Partner with the business development and investor relations teams to address investor inquiries, due diligence questionnaires (DDQs), and RFPs.
  • Ad-hoc reporting and deliverables

Requirements:

  • CPA/CA is required
  • BA/BS in Accounting or Finance
  • 7+ years of experience in fund accounting, audit experience in private equity industry
  • Detail-oriented, strong organization and communication skills with a demonstrated ability to communicate and work with colleagues at different levels
  • Strong preference for candidate who has experience with both open-ended and closed-ended high yield strategy funds.
  • Solutions based mentality and approach to problem solving
  • Excellent leadership and ownership abilities—can drive items to completion without need for supervision
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, growing environment
  • Knowledge of private equity/hedge fund industry requiredProficient with Microsoft suite of applications (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
