Responsibilities
- Leading and mentoring a growing team of 20+ software engineers – owning hiring, performance management, retention, and team structure
- Fostering a collaborative engineering culture, building career development frameworks and growth paths for engineers at all levels
- Owning architecture decisions to ensure scalability, reliability, and security on AWS
- Driving modernization efforts across multiple codebases (PHP, Node.js/TypeScript)
- Establish and refine engineering standards, code quality best practices, and workflows for development
- Managing technical debt strategically while maintaining delivery velocity
- Championing AI tools and workflows to enhance code quality, enhance product capabilities, and more
- Partnering with product to scope, prioritize, and deliver against quarterly and annual goals
- Owning engineering metrics to drive continuous improvement and delivery predictability
- Managing engineering budgets and resource allocation
Requirements
- 10+ years in software engineering with 5+ years leading engineering teams (15-20 people)
- Highly technical with a background in enterprise software engineering/architecture
- Current knowledge of AWS, PHP, Node.js, and/or TypeScript to guide and mentor developers, lead code reviews, and drive technology modernization
- Strong understanding and experience with Agile and Scrum methodologies – sprint planning/management, daily standups, retrospectives
- Experience working with small to mid-sized B2B SaaS companies or startups ($10M - $30M in revenue)
- Familiarity with containerization (Docker/Kubernetes), cloud, and DevOps best practices
- Experience with version control and continuous integration tools
- Experience leveraging AI tools to accelerate development velocity and improve code quality
- Experience with AI/ML integration into product offering is preferred
