The Credit Financing team is seeking a Vice President-level structurer to join its team to assist in the structuring, rating, and distribution of lending facilities backed by portfolios of corporate credit assets. The ideal candidate will have 5+ years of experience with structured finance, particularly in relation to credit assets such as bonds and loans.
The Credit Financing team is part of the Spread Products division within Markets. The business provides asset based revolving loans, CLO warehouses, AI infrastructure/GPU financing and other bespoke financing solutions for sophisticated alternative asset managers. These lending facilities are backed by a range of corporate credit assets, including broadly syndicated and private credit loans and corporate bonds. These facilities are primarily retained for Citi’s portfolio but may also be securitized into the capital markets or syndicated to other institutional investors / banks.
The team is small, highly collaborative and has built and maintained a market-leading lending franchise for close to two decades. The candidate will have exposure to experienced market participants and constant interactions with other teams across the Bank (other teams within Markets, risk, operations, sales, legal, tax and accounting teams). The candidate will work on all aspects of a transaction’s lifecycle, including origination, negotiation, documentation, deal closing, ongoing maintenance and risk management. The candidate will get to understand and structure complex lending arrangements.
Key Responsibilities:
- Serve as the key resource on the deal team, including drafting transaction term sheets, client negotiation, rating agency interaction, and review of transaction documentation.
- Identify key structural, credit/market risk, and operational factors present in current and prospective credit facilities, and clearly articulate strategies to minimize and manage these risks and present them to our risk partners.
- Work with potential syndicate partners to distribute risk.
- Originate and develop innovative financing solutions for Citi’s clients with a focus on more complex transactions backed by corporate credit.
- Develop new products and structures to enable the business to more efficiently distribute risk to third parties including insurance investors.
- Coordinate periodic reviews with borrowers, as well as internal and external partners, to stay abreast of developments in each underlying portfolio and the broader market.
Minimum Qualifications:
- At least 5 years of relevant experience in structuring and/or rating complex structured products.
- Solid understanding of the corporate credit market, including leveraged loans, corporate bonds, CLOs, CFOs, and other asset‑backed securities.
- Knowledge of private debt funds, SPV/SPE structures, and lending facilities backed by portfolios of corporate credit assets.
- Candidate must have strong cash‑flow modeling skills and experience in analyzing complex debt structures.
- Candidate should have a good foundation in financial statement analysis in a corporate debt context.
- Experience working on a sell‑side securitization desk or at a rating agency is preferred.
- Good communication and presentation skills.
- Candidate must be a team player.
