Vice President of EPC Contracts - Denver, CO
We are seeking an experienced Vice President of EPC Contracts to lead the strategy, negotiation, administration, and execution of complex EPC contracts across large-scale infrastructure projects.
This position is based in Denver, CO - relocation package can be provided.
This is a senior executive leadership opportunity for an individual with extensive experience in the utility-scale solar, power generation, or chemical processing industries . The successful candidate will play a critical role in shaping contract strategy, mitigating risk, and partnering with executive leadership to support continued business growth.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the development, negotiation, and execution of Engineering, Procurement & Construction (EPC) contracts.
- Ensure all contracts comply with project requirements, company policies, customer expectations, and industry best practices.
- Partner closely with Legal, Business Development, Pre-Construction, Project Management, and Executive Leadership throughout the contract lifecycle.
- Develop and implement contract management policies, procedures, and best practices to improve efficiency and ensure compliance.
- Oversee contract administration, negotiations, consulting activities, and risk mitigation strategies.
- Collaborate with project teams to support contract amendments, change orders, and renegotiations resulting from project scope changes.
- Analyze complex contractual issues and provide strategic solutions to minimize commercial and legal risk.
- Drive continuous improvement in contract structures, processes, and documentation.
- Lead, mentor, and develop the Contracts team while fostering a collaborative, high-performance culture.
- Evaluate and implement innovative systems, technologies, and processes to improve operational efficiency.
- Ensure departmental objectives align with the organization's strategic vision and long-term goals.
- Establish and enforce contract-related policies, governance, and security standards.
- Support project execution teams by providing guidance on contract interpretation, notices, and administration.
- Manage departmental budgets and monitor financial performance.
- Prepare and present key performance metrics and reports to executive leadership.
- Stay current on emerging technologies, industry trends, and evolving EPC contracting practices.
- Identify organizational training needs and oversee contract-related development programs.
- Perform additional duties as required.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, Law, or a related field.
- Master's Degree preferred.
- 15+ years of contract management experience.
- Minimum of 5 years in a senior leadership role.
- Extensive experience managing EPC contracts within one or more of the following industries:
- Power Generation
- Chemical Processing
- Proven expertise in EPC legal negotiations and high-value contract management.
- Experience working within a publicly traded company environment, including reporting requirements, audits, and compliance deadlines.
- Demonstrated success building and leading high-performing teams across multiple generations.
