Job Summary
The ideal candidate has responsibility for instruction in the laboratory setting and clinical sites.
This is a Safety Sensitive position pursuant to Oklahoma Statute.
Essential Duties
- This role facilitates student learning and growth through hands‑on, experiential opportunities. Serve as a mentor for, and evaluator of, Veterinary Technology students.
- Coordination and collaboration with the assigned primary Instructor.
- Coordinate with and supervise Program RVT's and staff during animal care.
- Provide veterinary medical services for the care of animals during the laboratory period, to include restraint/handling, examination, diagnostics & sampling, treatment & procedures, anesthesia & surgery, and any other care per course requirements. Specific duties include those pertinent to the particular course and animal species.
- Documentation of veterinary care for all patients.
- Assist management of in‑house animal patients, field trips, and other experiential opportunities for student learning.
- Assist with animal procurement.
- Participate with Program accreditation and regulatory requirements.
Minimum Qualifications
- Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine required, from an AVMA‑accredited institution.
- Hold a valid, unencumbered license to practice veterinary medicine in the State of Oklahoma.
- Hold a valid, unencumbered registration from DEA and OBN (Oklahoma Bureau of Narcotics).
- Evidence of current practice with a minimum of three years full‑time equivalent as a veterinarian in a clinical setting.
- Philosophy compatible with that of a comprehensive urban community college.
Competencies
- Effective interpersonal and team building skills; effective communication skills including verbal and written.
- Complete required trainings by TCC and School of Health Sciences.
- Compliance with SOHS requirements (HR onboarding, vaccinations/tests, annual compliance exam).
