Mountain View Animal Emergency is seeking a board-certied Veterinary Surgeon to join ourindependently-owned emergency hospital in scenic Hagerstown, MD. Since our founding in 2008, we’ve been a trusted provider of emergency and surgical services for our region. As a Veterinary Surgeon with MVAE, you will have the opportunity to perform complex surgical procedures including orthopedic, thoracic, abdominal, and emergency surgeries all while working in a well-appointed, spacious and beautiful hospital environment. Our medical support teams collaborate to ensure open communication at all ends of the client/patient journey. Our owner & founding DVM has over 25 years experience in emergency medicine and hospital leadership and shows up for his employees. Our team of highly-skilled directors provides individual, dedicated oversight to their respective teams and includes a CVPM, SHRM-CP credentialed Director of Veterinarians & Specialty Medicine to serve as your go-to for daily support.

Position Highlights

  • Schedule: Full Time. Willing to work with the right candidate to create a schedule that meets both the needs of the hospital and the candidate
  • Environment: Growing specialty within established emergency referral hospital with advanced surgical capabilities

Clinical Impact & Responsibilities

  • Perform advanced orthopedic and soft tissue surgeries
  • Manage complex referral and emergency surgical cases
  • Collaborate with emergency team on patient care
  • Develop surgical plans using advanced diagnostics and imaging
  • Provide pre-operative and post-operative patient management
  • Communicate treatment plans with pet owners and referring veterinarians
  • Mentor clinical staff and participate in hospital rounds and continuing education
  • Help develop and rene surgical protocols, reporting standards, and quality controls.
  • Participate in clinical case reviews, discussions, and continuing education initiatives.

Compensation and Benets

  • Salary: $200,000-$325,000 per year (based on experience) with additional quarterly production bonuses. No negative accrual.

Requirements

  • DVM or equivalent
  • Board-certied or residency-trained in small animal surgery (ACVS)
  • Eligible for state veterinary licensure
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to collaborate with Emergency and Specialty services.
  • Ability to obtain veterinary licensure in Maryland
  • Prior experience in emergency/referral or specialty hospital settings preferred
