Veterinary Ophthalmologist

Base Salary: $200,000–$275,000 based on experience and qualifications

Pacific CARE Pet Emergency & Specialty is expanding its specialty services and is excited to welcome Ophthalmology to our growing team. This is an opportunity for a board-certified or residency-trained Veterinary Ophthalmologist to help establish a new service within a thriving, collaborative multispecialty hospital while having the support of an experienced team and established referral community behind you.

Located in Irvine, Pacific CARE is a 12,000-square-foot, state-of-the-art multispecialty and 24/7 emergency hospital . The hospital currently offers Emergency & Critical Care, Surgery, Internal Medicine, Oncology, and Cardiology, creating an environment where specialists can collaborate closely on complex cases and provide comprehensive care under one roof.

The hospital is designed to support advanced specialty medicine, with two surgery suites, CT, ultrasound, ICU, isolation, high-flow oxygen, and advanced minimally invasive surgical and scoping capabilities . The Surgery team also works closely with Critical Care and Internal Medicine, creating a strong foundation for integrated specialty case management.

In your day-to-day, you will:

  • Establish and grow Pacific CARE's new Ophthalmology service
  • Diagnose and manage complex ophthalmic conditions across a diverse referral population
  • Collaborate with Emergency & Critical Care, Internal Medicine, Surgery, Oncology, and Cardiology on shared patients
  • Utilize advanced diagnostic capabilities and hospital technology to support comprehensive ophthalmic case management
  • Develop strong relationships with referring veterinarians and serve as a trusted Ophthalmology resource for the Orange County community
  • Help shape workflows, protocols, and the future growth of the Ophthalmology service
  • Work closely with veterinarians, technicians, and support teams to provide seamless, compassionate patient care
  • Communicate clearly and empathetically with pet owners throughout diagnosis and treatment
  • Contribute to a positive, team-focused hospital culture built on collaboration, mentorship, and continuous learning

What You Bring

  • DVM or equivalent veterinary degree with eligibility for California veterinary licensure
  • Board Certification in Veterinary Ophthalmology (DACVO) or residency trained in Veterinary Ophthalmology and board eligible
  • Strong communication skills with a compassionate, client-centered approach
  • A collaborative mindset and commitment to exceptional patient care
